Creative curriculum

We work hard to ensure all children at Priory receive a broad, balanced and creative curriculum which engages and challenges them. The foundation subjects of the National Curriculum (Art and Design, History, Geography, Design Technology, Music, Religious Education, Personal, Social Health and Citizenship Education) are delivered through our unique Creative Curriculum. Each year group studies six different works of art throughout the year which cover teaching and learning within the foundation subjects and create memorable learning experiences for the children. We are always developing our practice and through this have advised and influenced the curriculum in many other schools.

Why do we work this way?

  • To develop learning and teaching through the ‘Arts’ which unlocks the potential of all children
  • To understand Creativity as a way of thinking which can apply to any subject
  • To build children’s confidence and self esteem so they are able to express their individuality
  • To enable every child to be recognised as gifted and talented

Creative Partners

Creative Partners are practitioners who come into school from creative industries to work with the children, the teachers and sometimes parents. The expertise they offer covers a wide range of activities including drama, dance, music, design technology, art, film making. The experiences the children have with our Creative Partners opens their minds to new ways of doing and thinking. We strongly believe this helps to equip our children for both challenges and opportunities they may face in the future.
