The Treehouse

Priory School Treehouse is a resource unit for primary aged pupils. The Treehouse exists to support children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in gaining the greatest possible access to learning and achievement in preparation for the responsibilities and experiences of life.

It caters for 12 children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). Children are admitted to the Treehouse using the following criteria:

  • Children possessing an appropriate statement of special educational needs naming the Treehouse as part of a full-time arrangement.
  • Children at the risk of permanent exclusion from other mainstream schools who have been approved by the local education authority Behaviour Panel.

The Treehouse currently works with pupils in both Key Stage 1 (5 - 7 years) and Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years). We follow the National Curriculum and adapt it to make it accessible to the young people in our care.  We work hard to ensure our pupils’ entitlement to achieve their full potential is realised.  Once a child has been assessed for educational and behavioural needs, we begin the process to integrate him or her into the mainstream school.
